Welcome to DecobyCristi

What is Decoupage or découpage (/ˌdeɪkuːˈpɑːʒ/;[1] French: [dekupaʒ]) is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf, and other decorative elements. Commonly, an object like a small box or an item of furniture is covered by cutouts from magazines or from purpose-manufactured papers. (Napkins are used in my projects) Each layer is sealed with varnishes (often multiple coats) until the "stuck on" appearance disappears and the result looks like painting or inlay work. The traditional technique used 30 to 40 layers of varnish which were then sanded to a polished finish.

About me

I am a 45 year old wife and mother of two boys, 14 and 3. Starting all over again with a toddler is exhausting!! So I searched for something to do that was just for me. That's when I stumbled upon decoupage.  On Facebook none the less. I fell in love with it. I've tried many crafts. Candle making, wood crafts with tree logs. I never seemed to stick with any of it. But I loved decoupage. There is so much you can do. The possibilities are endless. In 2023 I started doing craft shows. I'm very shy outside of the house so it was different for me. However, it was a nice break from home. It was fun to meet new people and get out there. So that's me 😊 I hope you enjoy my products and I thank you for stopping by my page!!
